I'm Tano Tijerina—a husband, father, and follower of Christ.
Growing up in Webb County, I was raised by hardworking parents who taught me the values of dedication, caring for others, and keeping faith. My journey took me from fulfilling my childhood dream of being drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers to finding an even deeper purpose when my baseball career ended: building a life with my wife Kimberly, raising our family, and giving back to the community I love.
Kimberly and I have worked hard to create a life rooted in love, faith, and service. We've raised five wonderful children, including two we adopted from Guatemala. Our home is filled with laughter, faith, and purpose. We've poured our hearts into Webb County, supporting local causes, helping our neighbors, and doing everything we can to make life a little better for everyone around us.
But I couldn't ignore the corruption and inefficiency in our local government. It frustrated me to see leaders who didn't have our community's best interests at heart. My dad once told me, "Put up or shut up," and those words pushed me to act. With a lot of prayer and the support of Kimberly and our kids, I decided to run for County Judge.
I lost that first campaign, and it was tough. But instead of giving up, it made me even more determined. Four years later, I ran again, and this time, the people of Webb County put their trust in me. Since then, I've worked hard to keep taxes low, support local businesses, and improve our county's infrastructure and services. It's been challenging, but incredibly rewarding.
The national Democratic Party's values no longer align with the values we hold dear in Webb County. After a lot of thought, prayer, and conversations with my family and friends, I made the decision to switch to the Republican party. I believe in the values that South Texans cherish—hard work, faith, family, and freedom—and I want to be part of a party that stands for those principles.
Every day, I fight for what matters most to our community: supporting our oil and gas industry, securing our border, and keeping faith and family at the center of everything we do. I love Webb County and South Texas, and I'm committed to building a bright future for all of us.
